The Department of Geography is one of the oldest departments of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar College Affiliated  to the University of Kalyani and provides NEP 2020 programs in Geography Major and Minor.All the teachers in the department are very much dedicated to imparting the best of their teaching to the students and put in their hard-hearted effort to bring out the best in the students. Moreover, the department is regularly engaged in serious academic exercises like invited lectures, seminars by eminent geographers & academicians, the Social Awareness Programme, educational tours, etc. The department has laboratories, i.e., the RS & GIS (Computer Lab) and the geographical laboratory (Cartographic Lab) with available survey and mapping instruments. It has a comprehensive curriculum on topics related to software with an emphasis on practical learning, which is affiliated with the University of kalyani. The department also has a legacy of holding invited special lectures, conducting workshops and other academic-related activities regularly. Presently, the Department is offering minor soil test laboratory. The department have smart classrooms where regular basis audio-visual classes are taken by the departmental faculties. Every year the practical experience of the subject through field visits as well as excursions is done by the department. The Department is making significant contributions to the pedagogic improvement in the educational scenario of the district as well as the region. The department has a very high reputation in every sphere of the field of geography and other co-curricular activities. A good number of alumni of this department have become luminaries in their respective fields of teaching, research, banking, and administration. The department always encourages students for creative activity. Most of the time the student-teacher relationship turns into a friendly atmosphere. Complaints of students are heard all the time, and efforts are made to resolve them.
